⛰ What It’s About
It is about the story of the Greek God. It starts at the very beginning of time, at the creation of the universe. The Primordial Beings are born, who in turn create Titans. Kronos, a Titan, creates Zeus and the Gods of Olympus, who rise to challenge the rule of the Titans. The Olympians win the Titan war and then settle down on Olympus to rule the universe.
We then get to learn how Olympians created different beings and creatures. They also create humans to have someone to worship them. Prometheus steals the fire from the Gods and gives it to the humans. Later we hear stories of how the Gods interfered and bread with humans.
🔍 How I Discovered It
Found it through looking at books written by Stephen Fry. I am a fan of his audiobook readings and wanted to listen to a book by him. I am also interested in Greek Mythology, having read Percy Jackson in the past.
🧠 Thoughts
I enjoyed the audiobook, narrated by Stephen Fry. It was interesting to get to learn how Greek Mythology explains the story of how the Universe was created. I also liked the story of the creation of the Titans and Gods. Stephen Fry goes on tangents about how the words we use can be related back to the Greeks. The stories in Greek Mythology also tries to explain why things are the way they are, which I found really fascinating.
What I didn’t like was that it is not always easy to follow. You can lose the plot when Fry goes on his tangents. He also has the tendency to list whole families, and their bloodlines only complicate things as it’s challenging to follow
🥰 Who Would Like It?
People who like Stephen Fry and are interested in mythology. Might be interesting for people who have read Percy Jackson to get a better understanding of the story of the Greek Gods.
